Arisaema dracontium - Slide #7
Not as common as Jack-in-the-Pulpit, but just as unique. Green Dragon also has the spathe and spadix like Jack-in-the-Pulpit, but the spadix is quite prolonged and "shoots" out of the spathe like fire from the mouth of a dragon. Common along sandy or loamy creek banks in some areas - the healthiest populations I have seen are in Limestone, Winston, and Lawrence Counties. |
