Kalmia latifolia - Slide #18
One of the most attractive spring-flowering shrubs and one with interesting flower structure. The stamens are "spring-loaded" and discharge when activated by a crawling bee. The result is a pollen-dusted bee ready to leave the flower. Mountain Laurel is related to Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Common in many areas of Alabama. |
