Trillium vaseyi - Slide #41
Photographed in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the Noah "Bud" Ogle trail. One of the most spectacular Trillium species with large maroon or burgundy flowers that hang beneath the 3 bracts (leaves). Difficult to photograph properly because it frequently grows along shady brooks and streams. Blooms in late April and early May. |
