This Strawberry Hedgehog Cactus - Echinocereus enneacanthus - is fairly common in Big Bend National Park, and in this case was growing on a cliff face that overlooked the Rio Grande River floodplain. In the background are the Sierra Del Carmen Mountains in Mexico. Every afternoon there is a magnificent sunset off these cliffs that we enjoy from our campsite. March 29, 2001.
