Virtual Journeys Hi-Tec Camps
Each summer, Calhoun hosts Virtual Journeys Hi-Tec Camps to serve youth in grades 6 through 12 with opportunities to immerse themselves into the 21st century technologies of robotics, 3D modeling, and animation. Theses science and technology-based camps have been extremely successful and enrollment has grown each year since the camps began in 2001.
For 2009, Calhoun received $5,000 from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama to expand the camps to add a musical component to the camps. Numerous studies have shown that students who play musical instruments also do well in math and science.
